Interrupted Mail: 1900 envelope with contents sent from ‘Lord Roberts’ HQ Bloemfontein, 31 March 1900, a typed letter from Sir William Maxwell (reporter for The Standard at the time), sent to The Editor. “Standard” London, and was recovered from the Wreck of the SS Mexican, which collided with a trooper ship HMS Winkfield, endorsed front, and then sent onto London via Sunderland, postage due mark, even though the stamp probably washed off in the sea. Scarce item great content.
